12 years of real-time innovation
• 2014Gazette is born inside Arbor as an internal pub-sub streaming framework.
• 2016LiveRamp acquires Arbor.
• 2017Gazette handles billions (7GB/s) of daily ad-tech events at LiveRamp in real-time.
• 2019Estuary is founded to continue making real-time more accessible through open-source connectors.
• 2021FirstMark invests $7 million in Estuary.
• 2023Estuary launches its SaaS product to enable building right-time data flows. A self-service UI for building real-time pipelines and transforming them in streaming SQL.
• 2025Estuary raises a $17 million Series A led by M13.
Our history
We didn't start at trying to make real-time data flows more accessible by abstracting away the low-level work… it is just what happened.
Our team researched streaming frameworks while working with billions of daily events, and ultimately realized that we'd have to build our own (Gazette) to have a scalable distributed streaming framework that is built with kappa architectures in mind, required less continuous resource management, and could unify both our batch and real-time pipelines.
We've been innovating to make real-time data more accessible to all ever since.
